This piece was written and published in 2009, in Young World – In Paper Children’s Magazine of DAWN Newspapers. My thoughts then were the sadly diminishing trends and traditions of Eid, the basic love and frivolity of us being kids meeting and greeting our elders after Eid Prayers and the joy of receiving Eidi. I like to post this every year.. simply because of its simplicity and purity of EID!! Certain Traditions should never be forgotten, misunderstood and or taken under practical worldly lifestyles. I still believe in being the driving force waking my family up at Dawn, getting them ready for Eid prayers, and be the first one to get ready… and grab a warm Hug from my loved ones.. and ask for Eidi 😀 And many have actually complimented me and my behavior as an exact replica of the graphic used in this article.
Spreading love and blessings to the entire Muslim community. This Mithi Eid, after Ramadan teaches us tolerance, piety, and brings us closer to our own spiritual self. Acknowledge it and cherish it for these childhood memories and behavior are such that drive us, motivates us and keeps the inner child alive!!! Eid Mubarak Everyone!!
